The thoughts and feelings you share and the professional techniques that I may use are as important as the collaboration we build together. I understand and value the need to establish trusting therapeutic relationships. Although varied in delivery, I approach therapy generally from Reality Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral orientations. That is, I assist in clarifying what you want for your life and then develop more effective behaviors toward solutions. I recognize that our thoughts directly affect how we feel, and these feelings guide our behaviors. I am often sought out for optional integration of Faith-based (Christian Counseling) within the service being provided.
My role is to increase your insight and give clinical interpretations to help with your understanding. Service is personalized and tailored to each person's needs. My greatest asset in helping is the ability to get to the core issues and respectfully confront a person's self-deceptions. I take an active role in therapy to directly challenge some of your perceptions and behaviors, and propose alternatives. In order to heal hurts and change behaviors requires genuine effort on your part. Although at times difficult, disclosing and working through unpleasant memories and events may very well inspire a turning point. Counseling at RCS can indeed be life-changing.
